Outside Views

We choose a chalet-style, D-shaped log home with an attached garage, which fits nicely with the alpine views of our property on Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho. We added a larger dormer for the master bedroom and a gable porch with customized log posts.

The gable end of our home overlooks the valley below us. We choose a daylight basement in order to accommodate our sloping property, which is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to increase the square footage of a home. We also added a deck with log railings, which provides ample space for outdoor entertaining.

Living and Dining Area

The interior of our home shows the D-sided logs, plus the tongue and groove ceiling. We also added a wood stove fireplace, which provides much of our heat during the winter months.

The open floor plan incudes our dining room and kitchen, plus easy access to the solarium and deck.

Kitchen

Our kitchen incorporates blue pine cabinets from Pine Pride. The island in the center can be moved if more space is needed. Note the little log handles on the cabinet doors!

Guest Bedroom and Bathroom

The guest bedroom also shows the inside view of the D-shaped logs.

Our guest bathroom is decorated with woodsy items that we found from local merchants. Note the log handles on the bathroom cabinets as well.

Master Bedroom

We enlarged the gable of our master bedroom, creating a more open space. The trapezoid window on the side is perfect for stargazing while lying in bed.

Sun Room

Taking advantage of the fabulous alpine views, we added an optional sun room to our home, which is a fantastic spot for relaxing, reading and having nibbles and a cup of afternoon tea.

Loft

Perhaps our favorite room in the house is the dramatic loft area. Offering scenic views of the valley below, the loft area also shows the tongue and groove ceiling and log posts and railings that we added.
